Coinbase Wallet to Launch NFT Viewing in Browser Extension

In Brief:

  • Coinbase Wallet users will now be able to view their NFT collections in their browser extensions.
  • Users have to update their Chrome browser settings to support the new function.
  • EIP-3085 will be also supported by Coinbase Wallet to assist easier interactions between networks.

Global cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced it is launching support for NFT collectibles viewing for users in their Wallet’s browser extension.

More and more people are experiencing web3 for themselves.

Coinbase Wallet is the exchange’s self custody wallet. As private keys are saved on your devices, this form of wallet puts you in control of your crypto assets.

In the coming days, the Wallet will be getting a new NFT viewing tool, and users are asked to update their Chrome browser settings to support the feature.

Users of Coinbase Wallet who use desktop browsers will soon notice a new tab named “NFTs,” which will let them access the NFTs linked to their wallet address. This feature is already available in mobile wallets.

Coinbase has been working on enhancing support for testnets and alternative networks in addition to the new NFT function.

Coinbase executive Sid Coelho-Prabhu stated, “Coinbase Wallet will now show your token balances across all supported networks in one simple, unified view. In addition to assets held on the Ethereum mainnet, Wallet will display tokens on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom, Optimism, Polygon, and xdai networks.”

EIP-3085 will be supported by Coinbase Wallet as well, according to the firm. Developers of dApps can use EIP-3085 to suggest a specific network for a transaction. This means that it helps to interact easily among numerous networks.

Coinbase Wallet appears to be Coinbase’s web3 project. As crypto users become more knowledgeable and interact with more dApps, the firm wants to remain relevant.

Coinbase is preparing to debut an NFT marketplace to compete with industry leader OpenSea, and the NFT viewing launch announcement coincides with that. The platform has yet to unveil the marketplace, which will reportedly incorporate social networking features, and announced in October that it would be available by the end of the year.
