NFT sci-fi game Parallel stated they will auction off a single edition NFT and donate the proceeds to the online learning platform Khan Academy.
The NFT titled ‘Inspiring Teacher’ will be auctioned off at the OpenSea platform on January 19, 5 pm EST.
Khan Academy confirmed the news saying that it’s the first time they are becoming the beneficiary of an NFT auction.
“This sale helps children in need become a smarter and more empowered group of global leaders. We’re honored to advance that mission,” OpenSea tweeted.
Over the last year, too many institutions have chosen to use NFTs for charitable causes. Macy’s donated a portion of its Thanksgiving-themed NFT sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation last November. In the same month, Sotheby’s Metaverse organized the largest NFT charity auction with the profits going to Sostento health care workers who fought against the Covid-19 pandemic and the opioid overdose crisis.
