Dmitri Cherniak drops THE Dead Ringers: Edition

In Brief:

  • Dmitri Cherniak revealed the collection ‘The Dead Ringers: Edition” from a 5*6 grid of earlier NFTs.
  • In 24 hours of the window, 23,469 wallets have minted Dmitri’s NFTs.
  • The proceed from the sale will donate to Food Bank NewYork.

Canadian Artist and techno-savvy coder, Dmitri Cherniak was in many headlines due to his action. In January, he created non-fungible tokens (NFT) every day through an algorithm and sent them to a random wallet address. On 31st January, he arranged these NFTs into 5 by 6 grids and again sent them to random wallet addresses. Now, yesterday he again revealed a final edition, The Dead Ringers: Edition.

The new and final edition ‘Dead Ringer’ dropped in the random wallets that he selected of a possible 16 to the power of 40 available addresses. At the time, he wanted to inspire people to “appreciate the vastness of the address space”.

Even though he knew that it was far-fetched to expect that any of the wallet holders would collect the NFTs he sent out.

“For that reason, observers ascribed value to their scarcity and the odds of receiving one,” he said. “The Dead Ringers: Edition flips that notion on its head.”

All in all, he made an edition out of a final piece that any wallet could mint for 0.05 ETH. he locked the 24-hour timed edition at the size of 16 to the power of 40, the number of all possible Ethereum addresses.

In the 24 Hr auction, 23,469 NFTs were minted. All the proceeds generated from this sale will donate to the Food Bank for New York City.

“To celebrate Ringers birthday and its demise, Dead Ringers: Edition was minted 23,469 times over a 24 hour time period,” Cherniak tweeted. “[It] raised enough to support 16 million meals according to the calculator at the @FoodBank4NYC.”

Recently, many creative NFT projects have come into focus because of their unique minting process. Last year, Another artist, Pak introduced the fascinating ‘Merge’ NFT project‘, which has gotten the attention of many NFT collectors.
