Ukraine to Drop NFT Collection Illustrating the Russian Invasion

In its newest use of digital assets to fund its war operations, the Ukraine government plans to launch an NFT collection documenting the history of the Russian invasion.

According to The Guardian report, Alex Bornyakov, Ukraine’s deputy minister of digital transformation, stated the NFT collection would be “like a museum of the Russian-Ukrainian war. We want to tell the world in NFT format.”

The collection is released at a time when the Ukrainian government’s plea for cryptoc

The collection is released at a time when the Ukrainian government’s plea for cryptocurrency donations has raised almost $60 million (£46 million) with donations including a CryptoPunk NFT worth more than $200,000.

In the first week of March, UkraineDAO, the largest NFT-based crypto contribution to Ukraine’s war efforts, even raised more than $6M by auctioning a Ukraine flag NFT.

According to Bornyakov, the donations were used to purchase military weapons as well as fund media initiatives.

“We don’t use this fund to buy weapons at this point. We’re buying night vision goggles, optics, helmets, bulletproof vests,” he noted.

Crypto assets proved extremely helpful in facilitation of funding flows to the Amed Forces of Ukraine. Huge thanks to everyone who donated to the Crypto Fund of Ukraine.

He said “We just want to make them feel like we feel. Their [digital] war didn’t start 14 days ago. It started eight years ago, and they were constantly instantly attacking us with DDoS attacks, defacing websites or stealing our databases.”

Alex Bornyakov further added that each NFT will include digital art that depicts a news report from reliable sources. “We want it to be cool, good-looking, and it takes time,” he stated.

The Russian invasion in Ukraine has been heating up and the crypto world is pouring in with donation projects to aid the affected. Crypto exchange Kraken is planning to distribute an aid package of over $10M directly to the affected clients to support victims of the ongoing Russian invasion. BAYC donated $1M in Ethereum matching its community members’ $1M Ether donations to Ukraine.
