Cricket Australia signs a Historic Deal with Rario to Launch NFTs

The world’s first-ever officially licensed Cricket NFT platform Rario and NFT marketplace developer BlockTrust have collaborated with Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) in a multi-year licensing deal to issue NFTs.

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with @CricketAus and @ACA_Players🥳

With this partnership, we are excited to give cricket lovers the opportunity to own a part of the sport they love and indulge in cricket NFT based games in the Rario cricket metaverse🏏🏟️ #RariOz pic.twitter.com/52ksyW3Pd7

The specifics of the partnership deal have not been shared publicly but it will be like all sports memorabilia. It will introduce NFTs that celebrate the rich history of some of the cricketing moments on Australian soil.

The partnership will also bring play-to-earn NFT gaming or trading card sets for coaching purposes accessible to billions of cricket fans. And, the revenue from this partnership will be shared between CA and former and current players.

So it is safe to speculate that Steve Waugh’s Ashes hundred at the SCG in 2003, Peter Siddle’s hat-trick in 2010, and Ellyse Perry’s double hundred in 2017 will be available to own and trade as a NFT.

According to Ankit Wadhwa, co-founder, and CEO of Rario, Australia has led the way in cricketing innovation by entering the Metaverse. “This historic collaboration is a first in the cricketing world, where a national board (Cricket Australia) and player’s association (ACA) have come together to define the future of fandom with NFTs,” he said.

Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia believes that the partnership of CA and ACA will be exciting and beneficial for fans stating, “The game’s deep connection with its past, the passion of our fans, and the appeal of Australian cricketers to a global audience, means the incorporation of NFTs is another way that fans across the world can engage and be part of the sport.”

The fans looking for more information on this one can check it out on nft.cricket.com.au or rario.com.

Cricket NFTs range from cricketing moments to player images that are tradeable like traditional memorabilia. Engaging cricket fans with such NFTs is an uptrend. Along with this, NFT cricket games are also an exciting endeavor that NFT marketplaces are tapping into.

For example, GuardianLink hosted an NFT drop event Super Loot on the Jump.trade NFT marketplace which is said to play a pivotal role in the world’s first NFT cricket game named Meta Cricket League.
