Brut Drops Cannes Film Festival NFTs in Partnership with Pplpleasr

One of the world’s largest media platforms, Brut will release 75 Cannes Film Festival NFTs. The NFTs will be dropped in partnership with Emily Yang, also known as Pplpleasr and a world renowned Web3 digital artist. The proceeds from the sale will go to the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative.

These NFTs will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival and will provide unprecedented access to NFT owners, such as the red carpet, movie premiers and the Brut exclusive programming throughout the festival.

The NFTs were dropped on May 2, at 9:00 AM PST on the Shibuya platform created by Pplpleasr herself.

The collection, dubbed as the ‘Producer Pass NFT’, is being sold for 5 ETH, 6 ETH and 7 ETH. Passes of different price ranges provide access accordingly. However, the owner of each pass will be invited to the Cannes Film Festival by Brut.

100% of the proceeds from this NFT collection will go to the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, launched by Dr. Stacy L. Smith. The initiative is recognized globally for its efforts to produce practical solutions for the advancement of equality in the entertainment industry.

“The Accelerator Program is one of our many solution-based initiatives to support and develop the next generation of talented female-indentifying creators. We are thrilled that Brut and Pplpleasr have seen the importance of such a project and have chosen to back us in this way” stated Dr. Stacy L. Smith.

In 2022, Brut signed a three year deal with the Festival and became its Official Global Media partner. This NFT drop is the first initiative by the media startup in uniting the traditional, new film and content creation communities.

“We are proud to partner with Pplpleasr to create the first-ever NFT at the Cannes Festival to benefit the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. Pplpleasr is an exciting artist and the ideal partner for this project, which, for the first time, brings NFTs to the largest film festival in the world,” said Guillaume Lacroix, Brut co-founder and CEO.

Pplpleasr is an artist who has a history of being involved in projects that support a cause, especially women-centered causes. In March this year, Pplpleasr supported UnicornDAO launched by the Pussy Riot to support women, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ artists in Web 3.
