Hollywood Actor Seth Green Loses 4 NFTs in a Phishing Attack

The famous US actor, director, writer, and producer Seth Green is the latest victim of a phishing attack in which he lost 4 NFTs including a BAYC.

Well frens it happened to me. Got phished and had 4NFT stolen. @BoredApeYC @opensea @doodles @yugalabs please don’t buy or trade these while I work to resolve:@DarkWing84 looks like you bought my stolen ape- hit me up so we can fix it pic.twitter.com/VL1OVnd44m

— Seth Green (@SethGreen) May 17, 2022

Seth Green confirmed the news via Twitter in which he shared screenshots of his lost NFTs: BAYC #8398, MAYC #9964, MAYC #19182, and Doodle #7546.

His initial tweets highlighted the prices the NFTs trading for at the time, and he begged the community not to buy or trade them while he worked to resolve the situation.

Green later tweeted that he was trying to mint an NFT (a Gutter Clone, a spinoff from the famed Gutter Cats collection), and had linked his wallet to the site, which turned out to be a hoax.

The stolen NFTs have been labeled suspicious by OpenSea, saying they were “reported for suspicious activity.” However, Green’s stolen Bored Ape was sold to another user for $268,000 by the hacker.

The stolen Bored Ape was reportedly bought by Twitter user DarkWing84, and Seth Green mentioned them in his tweet saying, “hit me up so we can fix it”. Green’s account is currently labeled as ‘compromised’ by OpenSea. However, the rest of the NFTs were transferred to an anonymous account which has now been deleted.

Phishing attacks are very frequent in the NFT world, because all it takes is linking your wallet to the wrong website to have all of your precious NFTs snatched. Just last month, a Bored Ape holder lost NFTs worth over $567k in a scam.
