Hip-Hop icon and top NFT influencer Snoop Dogg aka Cozomo de’ Medici is set on yet another NFT adventure as he taps Food Fighters Universe (FFU) to open a BAYC-themed restaurant in Los Angeles.
Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus aka Champ de’ Medici joined as partners in the FFU group founded by entrepreneurs Andy Nguyen, Kevin Seo, and Phillip Huynh who were behind the BAYC-themed restaurant ‘Bored & Hungry.’
This time Snoop is planning to launch the Dr. Bombay’s Sweet Exploration restaurant, a “immersive retail dessert experience”, really soon in LA that will be setup under the FFU umbrella.
Snoop actually named his Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT #6723 the moniker ‘Dr. Bombay’. The cheetah-furred NFT #6723 adorns a Vietnam Era Helmet with a Pimp Coat in a Grey background. It also has Bored Eyes with a Bored Cigar in its mouth.
Champ Medici stated this regarding the partnership, “Food Fighters Universe is bridging food and Web3, and blazing a trail with real-life utility for NFTs. It’s the future of the restaurant industry. My Dad and I are thrilled to join the team and utilize their expertise to bring Dr. Bombay to life.”
Andy Nguyen added “We’re beyond excited to have Snoop and Cordell in the Food Fighters Universe. This is the first of many concepts to come from our Web3 restaurant group, and we couldn’t ask for better partners than Dr. Bombay and Champ Medici.”
To celebrate the partnership, FFU even hosted a giveaway on Twitter, and the lucky winner KamilMotala won a Dr. Bombay x FFU ComplexLand exclusive tee.
This month, Food Fighters Universe will also release The Food Fighters NFT collection comprising 10,000 NFTs. With the profits raised, FFU will open restaurants and provide exclusive experiences, free food, and other benefits to NFT holders.
All of this is feasible because BAYC creator Yuga Labs, allows its NFT holders to commercialize their own NFTs. This means that Snoop’s Dr Bombay restaurant isn’t a Yuga Labs-owned Bored Ape restaurant, but Snoop is completely within his rights to utilize his own NFT for it.
Recently, these attributes of BAYC NFTs put Hollywood actor Seth Green under trouble after he lost his BAYC NFT. This lost BAYC NFT was featured in his upcoming show ‘White Horse Tavern’. As now he doesn’t own the NFT, Green’s ability to create derivative work of the characters is questioned.
