Meta Rolls Out NFT Support Features on Facebook

Tech giant Meta is rolling out NFT support features on Facebook as part of its commitment to building a world in which Web3 will rule paramount.

Meta Product Manager Navdeep Singh provided a preview of how NFTs will appear on Facebook.

As per the screenshots shown in Singh’s tweet, the Facebook users’ profiles would feature a “digital collectibles” tab where they may display their NFTs.

At present, Meta has only begun a slow rollout that permits a selected set of creators in the United States to post their digital collectibles on Facebook.

Facebook will begin with Ethereum and Polygon NFTs, but will shortly add support for Solana and Flow NFTs.

Users will be able to link their cryptocurrency wallets to their Facebook pages. They will also be capable of converting their NFTs into Facebook posts, which can be reacted to, liked, commented on, and shared in the same way as any other posts.

Meta has stated that the creators will be charged zero fees for posting or sharing a digital collectible.

The company also added that it will not offer an option to convert digital collectible posts into advertisements for the time being.

According to Meta, it is aware that NFTs have a negative impact on the environment and is working to mitigate that impact by purchasing renewable energy.

Last month, Meta’s Instagram announced an NFT display feature for a small group of US-based creators just like how they will be doing now with Facebook. Last week, Meta expanded its Instagram NFT test to allow additional creators from around the world to display their NFTs.

Despite the fact that cryptocurrencies and NFTs are currently under the crypto winter stage, Meta is seemingly staying bullish on the digital collectibles sector.
