According to Meta, Instagram’s NFT platform is expanding to 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas.
“This new technology provides us with another outlet to make a living and to connect with our fans and collectors. Instagram has helped build careers for so many creatives, including myself, and now our communities can support us further by sharing our work on the platform,” said Natalie Amrossi, an aerial and street photographer.
To post ‘digital collectibles’ on their feed, a person only needs to connect their digital wallet to Instagram. The platform currently supports Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and Dapper Wallet.
The announcement also said that Meta is working to make this space diverse, safe and sustainable. Diverse artists can gain exposure and monetize their work outside of traditional channels using this platform.
Certain tools are provided by the platform to help people keep their accounts secure. Meta will also purchase renewable energy to help reduce the emissions impact that might be associated with the display of digital collectibles on Instagram.
Lastly, Meta has introduced a ‘NFTeach Me’ series to help educate broad audiences about this feature.
In May, Instagram announced the pilot project for this feature which supported a small group of US based NFT aficionados.
