GDAC released a statement confirming the hack noting the attackers drained around 61 BTC, 350.5 ETH, 10 million $WEMIX, and 220,000 USDT.

So, approximately 23% of GDAC’s total assets are now in hackers’ hands which they send to an unidentified wallet.

Upon the hack, GDAC suspended and blocked its wallet system and related servers. GDAC reported the hack to the local police, Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

The WEMIX team responded to the GDAC hack, saying it is closely monitoring the situation.

GDAC declared that it is working with both domestic and international crypto exchanges, DeFi platforms, etc to freeze the stolen assets.

According to the blockchain analytics company PeckShield, the hacker has already transferred about 461 ETH stolen from the WEMIX blockchain into Tornado Cash.

Hacks are not uncommon in the crypto industry and 2023 has already seen multiple high-profile hacks in such a short time. Recently, SushiSwap suffered a $3.3 Million exploit caused by an approval-related bug in its RouterProcessor2 contract.

Last month, Euler Finance witnessed a flash loan attack, the largest hack of 2023 with attacker “Jacob” stealing nearly $197 million worth of tokens including Dai, USDC, stETH, and wBTC.
