Elon Musk’s SpaceX Reportedly Sold $373M Worth of Bitcoin

The aerospace company renowned by Elon Musk, SpaceX, reportedly sold its Bitcoin holdings worth a total sum of up to $373 million last year and in 2021, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“SpaceX wrote down the value of bitcoin it owns by a total of $373 million last year and in 2021 and has sold the cryptocurrency,” as specified in the WSJ report.

The Wall Street Journal has insight into the documents that contain information about SpaceX’s financials. The timing of the sale and its exact amount are still unclear, but reports revealed that SpaceX has engaged in the sale of Bitcoin.

The company incurred approximately $5.2 billion in total expenses for 2022, as per the document on SpaceX’s financials. This expense does not include the costs of property and equipment, as well as research and development, valued at $5.4 billion for 2021 and 2022.

In 2021, Elon Musk stated that SpaceX is the owner of Bitcoin, but there is no information on the exact extent of their Bitcoin ownership since the company’s nature is private. Furthermore, another company co-founded by Musk, Tesla, also holds $184 million in Digital Assets.
