Immutable and AWS Collaborate to Boost Web3 Gaming

Immutable, a leading web3 gaming platform, announced in an October 10 blog post that it is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enlarge options for game developers and to promote the idea of players owning and trading in-game digital items on a global scale.

Web3-based gaming is a fast-growing trend that uses blockchain technology to empower players to have true ownership of in-game assets and trade them with others. It’s expected that in the next two years, around 100 million gamers worldwide will start participating in this concept.

Immutable has become a part of AWS’s ISV Accelerate Program which is essentially a collaboration between AWS and organizations that offer software solutions that either run on AWS or work closely with it.

By joining this program, Immutable gains access to the expertise and resources provided by AWS, which will help them connect with potential customers and close deals with major game studios from all over the world.

Gaming projects in the Web3 space that are being developed on the Immutable platform have the opportunity to join AWS Activate, a program designed to support startups.

AWS Activate offers these projects a range of benefits, including AWS credits, technical assistance, training, resources, and more.

Participants can access up to $100,000 in AWS credits to expand their operations using AWS infrastructure, all while leveraging Immutable’s expertise in the process of integrating, creating, launching, and growing their Web3 games. Immutable web3 gaming partners like Magmabyte, have undergone through AWS Activate.

Concerns have been raised in the past regarding the centralization of gaming and Ethereum, as well as their high dependence on Amazon, the dominant player in the cloud services market with a roughly one-third share of.

However, Michael Powell, who is the product marketing lead at Immutable, addressed these concerns and provided some reassurance in an October 11 report to Fortune.

“A lot of blockchain purists are very big into the idea of decentralization and that everything has to be on-chain and that’s a massive deviation from where game developers actually build.”
