Sam-Bankman Fried (SBF) will potentially testify on Thursday in his defense in the ongoing court trial.
On Wednesday, defense attorney Mark Cohen told the court that his team is planning to call three witnesses under oath as they begin presenting the case to the jury. Mark also said that his client, Sam-Bankman Fried, is also going to be testifying.
While it was unclear until now if SBF would testify or not, the defense team has now confirmed that the founder will speak for himself.
“The decision to call your client as a witness is always fraught, but sometimes it’s the right one,” said Andrew George from the defense team, stating that the team has made the decision because “his risk from not testifying outweighs his risk from testifying.”
SBF’s team believes that he will come to the jury to testify while maintaining credibility to answer the prosecutor’s questioning.
Over the past few weeks, the court has been presented with solid evidence against SBF, which leads to him being the center of multi-billion dollar fraud at FTX exchange and its sister company, Alameda Research.
Several witnesses have testified against SBF, including the former CEO of Alameda Research, Caroline Ellison, who alleged that Sam directed her to take fraudulent actions, which all eventually resulted in the collapse of FTX and Alameda.
