CoinDesk Impersonators Trick Users with Phishing Scams

Scammers have posed as CoinDesk journalists to target unsuspecting social media users. This ruse involves soliciting funds and distributing phishing links. CoinDesk emphasizes that its genuine reporters never solicit money for stories.

🚨 BEWARE: Scammers are pretending to be CoinDesk journalists on social media and elsewhere. Be careful.

Scam Tactics Unveiled

These impersonators often reach out under the pretense of conducting interviews. They then share malicious links, masquerading as scheduling tools like Calendly. Always verify the authenticity of any link by checking its domain.

CoinDesk urges the public to consult its masthead as it lists legitimate reporters and editors with contact details and social media profiles. Should you encounter anyone claiming affiliation with CoinDesk, cross-reference with this list. Absence from the masthead is a red flag.

Moreover, while CoinDesk does feature third-party contributions, any genuine correspondence will come from those listed on the official masthead. When in doubt, directly contact a CoinDesk representative via the masthead to confirm the legitimacy of any inquiry.
