ENS and GoDaddy Partner to Bridge Blockchain-DNS Gap

ENS and GoDaddy, a domain registrar, have partnered to enable the Web3 community to seamlessly link their.eth names (domains) to standard Web2 domains at no additional cost.

GoDaddy announces partnership with Ethereum Name Service to offer customers an effortless way to connect their domain to their ENS-compatible crypto wallet. Crypto payments have never been easier to receive. Read all about it: https://t.co/AY6RD8SUpP pic.twitter.com/Me5rafLLx2

ENS.eth domains are a decentralized domain name system (DNS) that, among other things, enables users to register domain names on Web3 and convert complicated wallet addresses into names that are readable by humans.

The high gas costs that previously discouraged users from switching their domain names to ENS are no longer an obstacle thanks to the GoDaddy-ENS cooperation.

The innovation is “the fusion of domain names and blockchain technologies,” which benefits the Web2 and Web3 ecosystems, according to Paul Nicks, head of GoDaddy’s domain business.

By connecting DNS to ENS, more than 20 million GoDaddy customers will have access to the advantages of the ENS blockchain infrastructure.

ENS is the most popular naming protocol in the world of crypto. Like DNS in website URLs, it enables users to correlate human-readable names, such as “bob. eth,” with lengthy and intricate Ethereum addresses.

“By pairing up ENS names and GoDaddy domains, we will streamline the way users interact with web domains, blending the familiarity of the DNS with the potential of blockchain technology,” said Nick Johnson, the founder of ENS.

The partnership improves the transition process by implementing new smart contracts for cost-free DNS to ENS domain linking, which removes prior obstacles like expensive gas costs.

ENS has been working to establish a connection with the conventional web. As part of its continuous efforts to be integrated with the traditional online, support for a web domain (.box) that performs similarly to other internet domains has been added.
