On February 13th, Avalanche took a big leap forward with the debut of Durango upgrade on Fuji testnet. This implementation is for the purpose of not only boosting scalability but also to confirm the cross-chains communication within the existing EVM chains that make up its ecosystem.
Another promising feature of Durango is Avalanche Warp Messaging (AWM). This technology permits peer-to-peer communication between any two Subnets on different networks which is enabled by the validators thus establishing the authenticity. This avoids a third-party intermediary, which contributes to providing a higher grade of security and speediness in the leading of assets in a system.
The upgrade includes several improvements suggested by developers to have their apps to function in stride with the system. Some of these features are withdrawals enabled for P-Chain native transfers which simplify subnet ownership middleman transfers, and an improvement of the smart contract compatibility with Ethereum through Shanghai Upgrade integration. Furthermore, the VM application error introduced by Durango enables both input and failure requests to become less deferred and networking tasks to be easily organized.
A large portion of the acquired insights has been devoted to improving the security across the subnets and research on P-Chain scalability. Avalanche’s ability to bridge the divide between different blockchain networks indicates its aspiration to remain as an innovator that will over time take a leading role especially in cross-chain communication and interoperability eventually making it a familiar face in years to come.
