Dormant Ethereum Whale Stirs After Years, Moves $5M ETH

An early Ethereum investor, dormant for nearly a decade, has sent 1,732 ETH (worth $5.15 million) to cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, according to blockchain tracker Lookonchain. This action coincides with ETH surpassing the $3,000 mark.

After the price of $ETH surpassed $3,000, an #Ethereum ICO participant woke up after 8.6 years of dormancy and deposited 1,732 $ETH($5.15M) to #Kraken.

This individual bought their ETH at the ICO price of $0.31, meaning a potential 10,000x return on their investment if sold above $3,000. The remaining 1,733 ETH in their wallet is still worth over $5 million.

It’s unclear whether they plan to sell, but transferring to an exchange like Kraken opens that possibility. This news follows other whale movements, including crypto hedge fund Galaxy Digital withdrawing 26,000 ETH ($76.2 million) and a mysterious entity accumulating 64,000 ETH in 11 days.

On-chain data shows that #GalaxyDigital withdrew 26K $ETH($76.2M) from #CoinbasePrime and #Binance in the past 12 hours.https://t.co/oPJdrwWcwS pic.twitter.com/b80Lr2DqzM
