Craig Wright Drops Lawsuit Against Bitcoin Devs

According to a recent report, Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist who recently claimed to be the anonymous creator of Bitcoin (BTC), Satoshi Nakamoto withdrew his lawsuit against a group of Bitcoin developers. This comes after a UK judge pronounced last month that there had been an overriding need for Wright to issue his claim.

The legal battle marked the first time that an individual has sued multiple Bitcoin developers and individuals. The resistance to the arrest that was called off by the security officers following a demonstration organized by the Bitcoin Legal Defense Fund was acclaimed as a triumph for both the developers and open-source software systems worldwide by the fund.

“Wright’s discontinuance brings an end to a nearly decade-long campaign of harassment and intimidation and marks a major win for the Bitcoin developers and open-source software in general,” the Bitcoin Legal Defense Fund stated.

Wright’s discontinuance follows on the heels of the Bitcoin developer’s victory in a related lawsuit (“Identity Trial”) brought against Wright in the UK that sought to definitively prove that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin.

This includes a lawsuit filed against him that has ended with him losing. To show he isn’t Satoshi, the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) filed a lawsuit against him. On the other hand, the justice’s verdict for the first case that placed Wright in the wrong was favored by the COPA, who stated that Wright had to stop claiming falsely in the BTC community.
