Samourai Wallet Co-Founder Denies Money Laundering Charges

Keonne Rodriguez, the co-founder of Samourai Wallet, recently appeared in court and denied the charges of money laundering and running an unlicensed money-transmitting business. The plea agreement was entered in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

On the April 29 hearing, Milla Rodriguez was released on a $1 million bond and further travel restrictions were set in place limiting him only to travel within specific regions of Pennsylvania and New York.

While he is confined to his home in Pennsylvania and is being tracked, he will be restricted in his movements. Rodriguez will be unable to undertake any cryptocurrency transactions or provide Samourai Wallet’s services before Jones gets his approval.

It illustrated how the U.S. authorities are getting stricter with cryptocurrency mixers, which are most of the time accused of participating in money laundering. Rodriguez and his partner, William Hill, were later arrested, throwing light on the heightened policing of crypto usage by the authorities. Rodriguez’ upcoming court appearance was on 14 May, and the trial progress has gone on.
