Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder has set off a storm within the crypto community by supporting freedom of speech. In his most recent post on X, Buterin appreciated the Ethereum community for having an open culture of expression where anyone can freely share their ideas even if they are against the protocol.
“I’m really proud that Ethereum does not have any culture of trying to prevent people from speaking their minds, even when they have very negative feelings toward major things in the protocol or ecosystem.” Buterin conveyed this message when he stated that “some support actively “open discourse” while others simply embrace it.”
Many crypto enthusiasts who agreed with Buterin’s perspective on free speech agreed with his remarks. They praised Ethereum’s present free-speech environment and denounced the censorship seen in other web3 ecosystems.
