WazirX to organize crucial townhall meeting for its customers.

WazirX has announced a crucial sixth Townhall scheduled for February 12, 2025, at 5:30 PM IST on YouTube. This session is expected to address the redistribution scheme, including how users can raise objections against claims and participate in the voting process to approve the scheme. But here’s the big question: Will it be transparent, or is this just another controlled narrative where users get no real say?

📢 Sixth Townhall Announcement

In this Townhall, we will provide a detailed walkthrough of the Scheme Process, covering everything creditors need to know—from reviewing claims and raising disputes to inspecting records and voting. This session will ensure that all creditors… pic.twitter.com/f9moH5fMxK

One of the biggest concerns among users is how the voting will be conducted. WazirX has previously stated that an independent third party would oversee the process to ensure fairness. Trust is already at an all-time low, and without clear details on who exactly will conduct the voting, this entire scheme risks becoming a manipulated exercise rather than a fair process.

WazirX has 4.4 million users waiting for answers, yet past townhalls suggest that only around 2,000 people might get to vote. If that’s the case, how fair is the process? The whole idea of a democratic vote is meaningless if an overwhelming majority of affected users have no say. The fairness of this entire restructuring hinges on whether all users get a chance to vote, not just a cherry-picked fraction.

WazirX recently launched the rebalanced portfolio and promised that 85% of users’ USD portfolio value would be returned immediately. That’s a step in the right direction, but it doesn’t answer the bigger questions like, who ensures the voting process is legitimate? Or how will they guarantee maximum user participation? Without clarity, these promises feel more like distractions from the real issue, control over the decision-making process.

WazirX has disabled YouTube comments in every past townhall, making it impossible for users to voice their concerns. If they truly want transparency, they should allow open discussions instead of shutting users out.

Prior to this townhall, WazirX needs to make clear who this independent third party will be, how it can assure its users of a fair vote, and whether all 4.4 million impacted users will receive their due share. If these critical questions continue to be dodged, users need to see this for what it is, a narrative-management tool, rather than a transparency engagement.
