Sam Bankman-Fried Celebrates His 33rd Birthday in Jail

Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, gave a revealing interview from prison on his 33rd birthday, sharing his thoughts on life behind bars and U.S. crypto regulation.

During his interview with Tucker Carlson on March 6, 2025, Bankman-Fried addressed his 25-year prison term for stealing customer funds and shared his thoughts about his political connections that became a point of public debate after FTX collapsed.

Sam Bankman-Fried is doing 25 years behind bars, and is now sharing a cell block with Diddy. He joins us from prison for an update on his new life.

Bankman-Fried, a major donor to both Democratic and Republican parties, stated he had a “better” relationship with Republicans in Washington D.C. than the public believed, despite his strong ties to Democrats.

He denied being a criminal, claiming that charges against former colleague Ryan Salame were politically motivated because of Salame’s Republican connections.

The former billionaire, now incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, shared details of his daily life in prison, mentioning he mainly eats rice and beans and hasn’t seen any former FTX employees.

Bankman-Fried showed remorse about the numerous associates who had to work with prosecutors to avoid getting extended prison terms. The legal team of Bankman-Fried has submitted an appeal to the courts while reports indicate his parents are pursuing a presidential pardon through Donald Trump.

The FTX bankruptcy in late 2022 has triggered multiple prison terms for essential figures involved in the scandal. Bankman-Fried waits for his appeal while the ongoing legal proceedings concerning FTX advance.
