CZ Signs MOU to Advise Kyrgyzstan Republic on Crypto Laws

Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao is set to advise the Kyrgyzstan Republic on blockchain and cryptocurrency regulations after signing a memorandum of understanding with the country’s National Investment Agency (NIA).

CZ shared the news in an April 3 X post, explaining that he offers advice to various governments on improving crypto regulations and implementing blockchain solutions beyond just trading. He called the work “extremely meaningful.”

The agreement with Kyrgyzstan will see CZ provide technical expertise to help the country enhance its technological infrastructure and prepare skilled professionals in blockchain, virtual asset management, and cybersecurity.

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that this partnership is vital for boosting the economy, ensuring the security of virtual assets, and opening up new opportunities for businesses and society.

Kyrgyzstan, which has many opportunities in the field of renewable energy, especially hydroelectric power, is gradually turning into an attractive place for mining cryptocurrencies. Hydroelectric power forms more than 30% of the country’s energy production; however, most of the hydroelectric potential is still untapped.

CZ’s latest move comes after he was appointed as an advisor to the Malaysian government and meetings with the UAE and Bhutan officials. They are new projects that he has embarked on after his release from a U.S. prison last year over a money laundering case.

CZ is also into blockchain, AI, and biotechnology, and recently the company donated 1000 BNB, which is equivalent to $600,000, to the victims of the Thailand and Myanmar earthquake.
