Solana & Litecoin ETFs Approval has 90% Chance: Analyst

In a surprising show of confidence, Solana and Litecoin have emerged as frontrunners in the race for spot crypto ETF approval, with Bloomberg Intelligence analysts assigning both a 90% chance of clearing the SEC’s gate next year.

That forecast, shared publicly by Bloomberg ETF experts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart, signals a growing belief that the SEC could be warming up to altcoin-based investment products beyond just Bitcoin and Ethereum.

“Would love to hear directly from Atkins, but all good chance of happening,” Balchunas posted on X, referring to the SEC Commissioner who’s been vocal about crypto regulation. His comment accompanied a detailed snapshot of Bloomberg Intelligence’s latest odds for a slew of pending ETF filings.

According to the internal chart, Solana and Litecoin aren’t alone in line. Various digital assets are being considered, each backed by heavyweight financial firms like Grayscale, VanEck, 21Shares, Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, CoinShares, Hashdex, and WisdomTree.

But it’s Solana and Litecoin that are currently drawing the most optimism. Both filings were officially acknowledged by the SEC earlier this year and have projected final deadlines in October 2025—October 10 for Solana and October 2 for Litecoin.

What’s adding to the bullishness? The SEC and CFTC are increasingly treating these assets as commodities, not securities, which helps clear a critical regulatory hurdle. There’s also an established futures market for both assets—another key consideration the SEC typically weighs before approving spot ETFs.

Behind these numbers is a broader trend. Grayscale, Bitwise, Franklin, and others aren’t just betting on one or two coins—they’ve gone all in. The list of spot ETF applications now spans XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, Hedera (HBAR), and Avalanche.

XRP trails just behind with an estimated 85% chance of approval, while Dogecoin and HBAR are pegged at 80%. Cardano, Polkadot, and Avalanche come in a bit lower, but still strong, with estimated odds sitting around 75%.

The timeline? Most of the final SEC deadlines fall in Q4 of 2025, although Bloomberg’s analysts note those dates are still flexible and decisions could come earlier, especially if political or market pressure increases in the coming months.

We also had the SEC delay decisions on Ethereum Staking and Dogecoin ETFs today. I am expecting more delays today or at least this week on some Solana and Hedera/HBAR ETF filings. This is expected IMO. Final deadlines for most of this stuff is in October 2025 or later. https://t.co/kOZNCSjy6c

While the focus is on these altcoins, the regulatory process remains slow-moving. Seyffart added that the SEC has already postponed decisions on Ethereum staking ETFs and Dogecoin spot ETFs this week. He expects similar delays on Solana and HBAR filings in the days ahead. “This is expected IMO,” he tweeted, clarifying that while the deferrals may seem frustrating, they’re all part of the procedural pace.

What’s clear is that institutional interest in crypto is evolving—and fast. The conversation has moved well past Bitcoin and Ethereum. With this new wave of ETF filings, the SEC now finds itself under mounting pressure to define clearer rules around a broader set of digital assets. And if the analysts are right, 2025 could be the year altcoins finally go mainstream on Wall Street.
