‘Bitcoin is Faster Than Credit Cards’ Steak 'n Shake

At the Bitcoin Conference 2025, American fast-food chain Steak ‘n Shake COO Dan Edwards made a bold statement that’s grabbing attention by saying, “Bitcoin is faster than credit cards.”

Speaking at the event, Edwards announced that the fast food chain has rolled out Bitcoin payments globally, including at its restaurants in France, Monaco, and Spain. The move, he said, is already showing clear advantages for both the company and its customers. The compay has embraced Bitcoin, allowing customers across all U.S. locations to pay with crypto since May 16.

Edwards added, “Our experience with Bitcoin so far has been incredibly positive. Not only is it faster than credit cards, but customers are actually choosing to pay in Bitcoin. We’re saving about 50% in processing fees, which is a huge benefit for us as merchants.”

Edwards emphasized that adopting Bitcoin isn’t just a tech upgrade — it’s a strategic business decision. “It’s a win for customers, a win for us, and a win for the Bitcoin community.” With this, he also said that Bitcoin may be the future, at Steak ‘n Shake, “we’ve brought it to the present.”
