U.S. President Donald Trump strongly endorsed Bitcoin and the overall crypto industry, calling it “amazing” and “a great thing for our country.” His comments come as crypto regulation bills are expected to pass in the coming months.
At the latest press briefing event, Trump stated, “I became a fan of crypto… it’s an industry, and I’m president. If we didn’t have it, China would.” He emphasized that the U.S. has “dominated” this space and built a powerful industry around it, highlighting its growing importance to the economy and job creation.
He also pointed out that when the stock market went down recently, crypto dropped less than other sectors, showing its strength. Trump said, “We’ve created a very powerful industry, and that’s much more important than anything we invest in.”
Revealing his personal connection, Trump shared, “I got involved in Bitcoin before I decided to run again. I didn’t know if I was going to do it a third time.” He also noted that more people are now using Bitcoin for payments, saying, “It takes a lot of pressure off the dollar. It’s a great thing for our country.”
While he said he’s not personally focused on investing, he added, “My kids invest in different things. They believe in it. But I’m president, and what I did was build a very important industry.”
Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, a well-known Bitcoin advocate, spotlighted this update on X. Trump’s remarks are being seen as a major political endorsement for crypto in the U.S., especially as lawmakers prepare to advance new crypto legislation in the coming months.
