Polygon Blockchain Faces Temporary Delay in Block Finality

Polygon’s blockchain is running as usual, and blocks are still being produced, but there’s a temporary delay in block finality. Right now, finality is taking around 10 to 15 minutes due to an issue with some Bor and Erigon nodes.

Users can monitor live network activity via the Bor Mainnet tracker. Despite the slowdown in finality, checkpoint validation is still functioning within the expected timeframe.

Node Disruption and RPC Issues Identified

The delay has been traced to problems with certain RPCs, which prevented some nodes from progressing normally. As a result, some validators and RPC providers experienced interruptions. Many of the affected nodes have already been restarted, which has restored normal operations for most of the network.

A few nodes, however, had to roll back to the last finalized block, number 76,273,070, and are still in the process of syncing. The Polygon team has identified a fix and is gradually rolling it out to all validators and service providers.

Some of the services people use have been affected too. Polygonscan’s mainnet and OKLink explorers are running a bit slow, and Alchemy Polygon is facing a partial outage. Everything else, like Polygon Docs, Portal, Staking UI, zkEVM, Infura Polygon, and Quicknode, are fine. Those using these might notice small hiccups until all nodes are fully caught up.

Polygon has said the main network is still running fine and checkpoint finality is working as it should. The team is keeping an eye on things and expects everything to be back to normal soon. Its official status page will be sharing the latest updates.

Note: This is a developing story.
