Pi Network Upgrades App Studio with New Code Feature

Key Highlights

  • Pi App Studio now lets creators download and re-upload app code.
  • New management tools and UI upgrades improve workflow.
  • The update follows Pi Network’s recent DEX and AMM testnet rollout.

Pi Network has rolled out a major update to Pi App Studio, giving creators and developers the ability to download and re-upload source code. The long-requested feature marks one of the platform’s biggest steps toward becoming a full app-development ecosystem.

The new capability went live yesterday and was followed today by a demo video from the Pi Core Team showing how the tool works in practice.

From no-code templates to flexible development

On November 14, Pi Network announced that creators can now export the code behind the apps they build in Pi App Studio, customize it in their own environment, and then upload it back for further editing inside the Studio. The workflow links creators and developers, enabling shared app refinement entirely within the Pi ecosystem.

The feature effectively turns the Pi App Studio from a simple no-code tool into a prototyping hub. Developers can spin up an idea quickly, export the code, build out advanced features, re-upload the enhanced version, and continue using Pi’s built-in deployment tools, simplifying everything from Pi API integration to app publishing.

Pi doubles down with a full demo

On November 15, the Pi Core Team posted a demonstration, highlighting how the code download/upload system works end-to-end. The demo shows creators exporting their app, making adjustments locally, and pushing the updated version back into Pi App Studio with compatibility preserved.

The new code download/upload capability marks a step forward for Pi App Studio in bridging creator and developer experiences.

The team described the feature as a milestone for bridging “creator and developer experiences,” reinforcing Pi’s aim to empower both groups as it moves toward mainnet.

How it fits into Pi Network’s bigger push

The App Studio upgrade lands as Pi Network continues preparing its ecosystem for a full mainnet transition. In October, the team deployed a DEX and an AMM on its testnet, allowing developers to simulate real-market activity using test tokens and liquidity pools. Combined with today’s new capabilities, Pi is building a clearer foundation for decentralized apps that might run on Pi Coin once the mainnet fully opens.

Giving creators and developers deeper code control shows Pi Network pushing beyond templates toward true, production-ready applications.

What happens next

Pi says more upgrades are on the way as it aims to “empower Pioneers and developers with AI-assisted tools” and streamline app deployment. The update bridges testing and real development, aligning with Pi’s push toward exchange listings and mainnet activation.

For now, creators can access the new features through Pi Browser or Pi Desktop, with additional updates expected as testing continues.
